1 bottle PAUILLAC, Grand Cru Classé, Château Lynch Bages, 19 - Lot 66
1 bottle PAUILLAC, Grand Cru Classé, Château Lynch Bages, 1979, Vintage 1st Franco-American mission CNES NASA BAUDRY in 1985. Dedication in pen on outer right edge of label to be identified. (level and cork slightly low, small tear and stain to label). THE FIRST WINE IN SPACE IS A BORDEAUX "On the other end of the phone, the famous couturier André Courrèges asks him an unexpected question: "Would you like to send your wine to the moon? Courrèges then got in touch with astronaut Patrick Baudry, who was to be the first Frenchman to fly on the American space shuttle a few months later. Baudry, a native of Bordeaux, was a great wine lover. He wanted to honor the region and city where he spent his youth by taking a sample of his production with him into space. Jean-Michel Cazes and Patrick Baudry immediately got in touch: "I'm organizing a visit by Patrick Baudry to Lynch Bages. The astronaut's time is running out. So I send a helicopter to pick him up where he is, in the South-West of France. Patrick spends a day with us and explains his idea. His message was very clear: the idea was not to advertise a brand, but to honor Bordeaux and its wine, the region's flagship product," recalls Jean-Michel Cazes. In. patrickbaudry.com
