A Paris, Chez Rollin, 1751. -- Lettres nouvelles de Madame la Marquise de Sévigné a Madame la Comtesse de Grignan, sa Fille. A Paris, Chez Bauche, Libraire, 1754 (2 vols.). Together 3 volumes in-12, olive morocco, triple gilt fillet framing the covers, ribbed spines decorated with flaming hearts, gilt edges (period binding). - First edition of this collection (printing by Claude Simon) containing 25 letters by Madame de Sévigné and 98 addressed to her. -- Lettres nouvelles " extractes de l'Edition de 1754, 8. vol. in-12. pour servir de Supplément à l'Edition de Paris en six volumes. Volume headpieces indicate volumes VII, VIII & IX. Spines faded. "[...] the first [edition] that can be considered authentic, was then published in Paris, Simart et Rollin, 1734-37, in 6 vol. in-12, by the care of Chevalier Perrin, who in 1754, added 2 vol. of supplement [...]. In the same year, 1754, Chevalier Perrin also published a fine edition (Paris, Desaint et Saillant) in 8 vol. in-12, of which there are copies in strong paper. The Recueil de lettres choisies pour servir de suite aux lettres de madame de Sévigné, vol. in-12, printed twice in 1751, can be joined to both editions, and to the one of 1763" (Brunet, V, 325); Tchemerzine, X, 325-327 (who does not cite Bauche as another publisher of the Supplément).
