[POLAND - Du PERRON de CASTERA (Louis Adrien) "Idée generale de la Pologne. 1749 ". Mid-eighteenth-century manuscript in one volume in-4°, glazed blond calf, triple gilt fillet framing the boards, coat of arms in the center, spine with ornate nerves (period binding). Calligraphic manuscript comprising a title + 301 pp. + [18] ff. (table). This is a text corresponding to the one that Louis Adrien du PERRON de CASTERA, who had been appointed chargé d'affaires in Poland in 1748, published anonymously in Warsaw in 1764, in his work entitled Essai politique sur la Pologne. This text, which is found here in a different order from that adopted in the printed book cited above, also presents a number of variants (the same remarks can be applied to the publication of this work in Amsterdam in 1775 under the title Les Loisirs du Chevalier d'Eon de Beaumont, ancien ministre plénipotentiaire de France, sur divers sujets importants d'administration, &c. pendant son séjour en Angleterre). In addition to being the work of the Chevalier d'Eon, the work has been misattributed several times, including once to the Abbé de Polignac and once to the Comte de Broglie... Restored and cracked jaws, but a very good copy. A GOOD EXAMPLE IN ARMS BINDING (unidentified). This is a text corresponding to the first part of volume I (in nineteen chapters) of the work by Charles Geneviève Louis d'ÉON DE BEAUMONT, known as "LE CHEVALIER D'ÉON", entitled Les Loisirs du Chevalier d'Eon de Beaumont, ancien ministre plénipotentiaire de France, sur divers sujets importants d'administration, &c. pendant son séjour en Angleterre, published in Amsterdam in 1775. This text, which is here in a different order from that adopted in the printed book, also presents a number of variants. See reproductions
