Argument taken from Rabelais, engraved by Huguet, Musicien de la Comédie Italienne. First board label cut to remove owner's name, defects to spine and second board, fine condition inside. ATTACHED: SACCHINI (Antonio Maria Gasparo). Œdipe à Colone. Opera in three Acts. Paris, Imbault, [pl. 142, 1786]. Large folio, contemporary boards. 235 pp. First performed before their Majesties on January 4, 1786, and by the Académie Royale de Musique on February 1, 1787. An uncommon copy with full margins, untrimmed, in its original waiting boards. "It was a magnificent posthumous success [...]". Publisher's autograph signature on title page, score in good condition, boards rubbed in places, corners dulled, handwritten label stuck to spine.
