PLOSSU Bernard. SURBANALISM. Photographic sequences. Preface - Lot 286
PLOSSU Bernard. SURBANALISM. Photographic sequences. Preface by Sergio Léone. Paris, les Éditons du Chêne, 1972; in-4, black plastic spiral binding. First edition of Bernard Plossu's first book, comprising 23 leaves, 19 of which are fold-outs (triptych or diptych), 21 sequences of black-and-white photographs. Complete with publisher's leaflet. Bernard Plossu coined the term "surbanalism" in the early 1970s to describe his photographs: "In 1970, I realized that the most banal things were in fact extraordinarily surreal! Hence the contraction of the two words."
