[ITALIAN COMPOSERS of the 18th century].
Diary of Italian Ariettes by the most famous Composers [...].
/ Recueil d'airs italiens. Paris, Bailleux, Imbault (1779-1783), 1784-1787, 7 strong volumes in-folio, half green vellum,
red morocco labels on spine and front cover (period binding). (Precise collation on request).
Exceptional complete set of song volumes and separate parts, a great work of editing by Bailleux, successor
of Madame Boivin at the Règle d'or between 1764 and 1798. Very fine engraving, on strong paper (sometimes bluish) of the melodies of these
famous Italians: Anfossi, Astarita, Baini, Blanchi, Borghi, Borroni, Caruso, Cimarosa, Colla, Giordanello, Guglielmi, Mengozzi,
Mortellari, Monza, Paisiello, Rauzzini, Rust, Sacchini, Sarti, Zingarelli... and many more.
Two volumes make up the "Parties de Chants" years "1784, 1785 and 1786" then "1787 etc.", (452 and 396 pp. respectively, fine engraved label "Bertault, Md Papetier" laminated to the first endpaper of the first volume). The mention "Etc" on the second binding corresponds to the presence of ariettes from the first period of publication by Bailleux (1779/1783) and especially from the rare "Recueils d'airs italiens" published by Imbault, of which the entire first 12 issues are given at the end of the volume: they feature the particularity of being "in score", integrating the string quartet (the last two deliveries are doubled by a version with vocals and solo bass), works by Cimarosa, Guglielmi, Jomelli, Martini, Rispoli, Sacchini. Five other volumes (over 250 pages each), as essential as they are difficult to assemble, bring together the separate parts for Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Bass and Oboe, which correspond perfectly to the vocal parts, in the order of the first bindings." These publications are little-known and are of obvious interest, particularly in terms of the programs of the Concert Spirituel and the Concert des
Concert des amateurs. References to the famous singer Madame Todi allow us to reconstruct part of her repertoire."
(Collection of Professor of Musicology Jean Mongrédien, Drouot, Piasa, April 30, 1997). Good condition.
