[COURTILZ de SANDRAS (Gatien) - LOUIS XIV / MANUSCRIT]. "Le Grand Alcandre. Premier tome". Manuscript dated 1714 in one volume in-12, calf, spine ribbed and decorated (period binding). Manuscript of approx. 177 pp. giving the text of the work that was published anonymously in Cologne, by Pierre Bernard, in 1684, under the title : Les Conquetes amoureuses du Grand Alcandre dans les Pays-Bas, then, in an expanded edition of four other parts, by Pierre Marteau, in 1688, under the new title La France galante. Histoires amoureuses de la cour, then five parts (partly different, some by BUSSY-RABUTIN) in 1696. It is of course Louis XIV who is thus referred to as the "Grand Alcandre", a name he had already been given on several occasions at the time Bussy-Rabutin, in his Histoire amoureuse des Gaules. Some damage to binding and a few brown spots.
