Three post house bells, bronze and with a slot Decorated with fleur-de-lis, pegasus and number. Work of the 18th and first half of the 19th century. Max. diameter 11 cm These bells were suspended from stagecoaches, and the rhythmic tinkling, cadenced by the trot and gallop of the horses, warned of the arrival of the carriage at the relay post. Made of bronze in bell foundries, they varied in size from 8 to 14 cm in diameter, and were numbered: 6, 7, 8, 10, etc. These numbers indicate the size of the bell. These numbers indicate not only the size of the bell, but also its sound.
