Rare velite flintlock rifle, horse grenadier, foot artillery or engineer of the imperial guard. Barrel with sides then round, dated: "1806", probably punched: "P B" (the "P" partly erased) and "E F" near the light; it is numbered: "94" and signed, on the top: "Entse Boutet"; length 104,8 cm; tail of breech engraved: "M an 9". Lock stamped: "D B" in a wreath of foliage and signed: "MRE IMPLE DE VERSAILLES". Brass trimmings punched: "D B" on the counterplate which is of the model of those of the grenadiers of the guard of the Directory; on the others: "D" with English of Deschasseaux, on the grenadière, also the: "D" and two not identified punches: "B 2" and "C T", the return of plate of layer, simpler, does not comprise cutting. Walnut stock, without cheekpiece, with two old grooves on the barrel, probably of the period; it is stamped: "A P" and numbered: "94". Iron ramrod. It is presented with a socket bayonet and its quilted buffalo sling; total length 143.5 cm. (Fracture repaired at the level of the enture of the nasturtium). First Empire period. Good condition. This rifle being in its original state, modifications had to be made, at the time of its transformation, to the model of the velites, so as to balance the positions of the capucine and the grenadière.
