Box - Lot 782
Box in pink and green lacquered wood and mother-of-pearl veneer, decorated with chased ormolu and foliage scrolls, on the lid in a cartouche, a spray of flowers decorated with small red stones. Signature of the Tahan house, late 19th century. H.: 14 cm; W.: 34 cm; D.: 25 cm Initially created in Spa by Pierre Lambert Tahan, the eponymous house saw its development accelerated by its installation in Paris and the assumption of the direction of the son Jean Pierre Alexandre (1813-1892) in 1844. Silver medal in 1849, supplier of the Emperor six years later, the Tahan house is "unique for its kind of manufacture and imposes itself, thanks to the good taste of its compositions. At Tahan, we never look at the price; the important thing is that the name Tahan appears on the object" (P. Giffard, Les Fourchambault, 1878).
