MALLET / ORNATE MANUSCRIPT]. Reunion of two illuminated manuscripts from the 17th & 18th centuries: - "Livre de raison de Louys Mallet" and -- "Liber amicorum" in one oblong in-16 volume (163 x 92 mm), calf, boards fully decorated with cold decoration, ornate spine, gilt and chased edges, traces of lakes (period binding). - Livre de raison de Louis MALLET (1605-1674) and his family (originally from Geneva and the Pays de Gex) comprising a title and 21 written pages giving a genealogy covering the years 1628 to 1693, with a few additions for the years 1711 to 1768 (and many blank pages afterwards). The title page, watercoloured, bears the date 1628 in a cartouche surmounting the ARMOIRIES of Louis MALLET and a second cartouche with, in gold letters, the following inscription: "Louys Mallet // Virtuti Fortuna Cedit". This collection also concerns the VARRO, PONCET, ROCCA, TOLLOT, THUDER (or TUDERT), BURLAMACHY, MALVESIN, OFFREDY families, etc. -- "Liber amicorum" in German essentially (with some inscriptions in Latin, French or Italian) from the same Louis Mallet and comprising 52 written pages (including 3 pages of remedies in fine, interspersed with several blank leaves), covering the years 1627 to 1630 and adorned with 22 AQUARELLED FIGURES (three of which are full-page and some of which are embossed). The first page of this collection bears the following inscription at the head: "Amor Leone Fortior". Binding flaking with a few small accidents. MANUSCRIT ORNAMED WITH SEDUCTIVE AQUARELLED SCENES.
