TAPISSERIE Tapestry Depicting the meeting of "Eliezer and Rebekah". In polychrome wool, the border decorated with scrolls and foliage, acanthus leaves with rosettes in the spandrels. Work of the manufacture of AUBUSSON, after a model of Isaac MOILLON (1614-1673) of the end of the XVIIth century. (restorations, wear). Height 300 cm - Width 335 cm. The subject is taken from the Book of Genesis (24, 15-27): Eliezer of Damascus, servant of Abraham, is sent by the latter to find a wife for his son Isaac. He is sent to Nahor, in Chaldea, and asks for God's help in choosing a wife. In the evening, when the women came to draw water, he decided to choose the one who would give him and his camels something to drink. In exchange, he offers Rebekah the jewels given by Abraham: two bracelets and a ring, together with the letter of proposal.
