PFRUNNER Vincent (photographer) Saint Bernadette du banlay church in Nevers ( Parent & Virillo architects, 1966) Photograph, print on baryta paper 32x48cm 2006 Saint Bernadette du Banlay Church in Nevers (Parent & Virillo arhcitects, 1966) Photograph, print on baryta paper 32x48cm 2006 Vincent Pfrunner receives a Polaroid and a small FocaSport at 8 years old. With one, he makes albums and explores the power of images on people by showing his portraits; with the other, he captures landscapes, construction sites, ruins and architecture. Graduated engineer by "reason", he pursues his dream by joining the Paris-Belleville School of Architecture where he founds his architectural culture in the Modernist style (Ciriani) while taking from the Classics their way of making history speak. He leaves to complete his knowledge in Porto from where he returns marked by the thought of Siza. He began his career by chance as a space planner in a large bank, then turned to urban planning, working on the urban integration of TGV stations, then tramway lines. Working with landscape designers, he learns to model the territory in relation to the horizon, light and the natural landscape. Today, through his lens, Vincent Pfrunner immortalizes the city, its architecture, its walls but also its builders. With nearly 850 portraits of architects, he continues his great work of "portraying" the profession by trying to capture its characters with punctum: a detail, an expression that will make the eye dawn. He also works on urban transformations, reports on architectural and urban diagnosis, building sites, and deliveries of new buildings. His images are regularly published in the press.
