VIAN BORIS. THE FOAM OF DAYS. Paris, Gallimard, 1947. In-12 - Lot 339
VIAN BORIS. THE FOAM OF DAYS. Paris, Gallimard, 1947. In-12 full binding composed of box skins of different colours silkscreened on the back and both plates with a drawing by F. Gastan, cold titled back, preserved cover and back, titled shirt, case (Daniel Mercher, 1998). Original edition. Copy of press service, no big paper. Signed autograph from Boris Vian to Claude Gallimard: "My dear Claude, I am happy to see that your father has reserved for me his most charming paper. Your spiritual father, Boris Vian. » The binding illustrates the last sentences of"?The foam of days": The mouse could not stand Colin's grief when his wife died, so she asked the cat to finish it. The latter offered to put his head in his mouth and unroll his tail on the sidewalk while waiting for someone to pass. Boris Vian concludes, "He came singing to eleven blind little girls from the orphanage of Julius the Apostolic. » Probably the most desirable copy of The Foam of Days.
